Job Description
Reporting to the Integrity Planning Team leader the Materials and Corrosion Engineer is accountable for delivering specialist corrosion and materials engineering support, advice, assurance and challenge to the Asset. As one of the first of the engineers recruited into this support organisation the post holder will be responsible for familiarising themselves with the facilities so that corrosion prediction and mitigation/controls can be developed in advance of installation arrival. Provide material selection advice and develop monitoring /condition assessment processes to mitigate issues where material issues have been identified. Another important element of this role is to assist in the development of junior Engineers.Demonstrate strong safety leadership
• Develop and maintain corrosion management and materials compatibility programs for offshore operating facilities
• Provide in-depth technical support and solutions which would involve corrosion prediction and mitigation/control, failure analysis, mechanical and integrity assessment and assurance management utilizing corrosion modeling, materials selection, cathodic protection, chemical treatment and monitoring
• Interface with other members of maintenance and integrity management (IM) team (process safety, inspection/integrity engineers and production chemists
• Interface with operation personnel and facility engineers on integrity management issues
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and champion innovation that can assist in meeting the Business Unit's IM objectives
• Participate in a variety of Integrity Management (IM) related reviews
• Ensure the transfer of best practice and operational experience in the area of corrosion and materials engineering within operational support team, engineering contractors and IM contractors
• Contribute to Integrity Management (IM) Leadership
Job Requirements
• Engineering qualified with a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or a Metallurgical Engineering, or another field related to corrosion• Hold or be working towards Chartered Engineer or similar professional status
• Ability to demonstrate good HSE awareness
• Comprehensive working knowledge of IM (Integrity Management) and expertise/knowledge of corrosion engineering
• Knowledge of corrosion prediction and analysis, corrosion mitigation, material selection, chemical treatment, and mechanical integrity assessment
• Demonstrated ability to work in a busy operations environment with multiple discipline teams
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with very strong communication (verbal and written) and participation skills
• Application of gas/fluid stream chemistry expertise to solving corrosion issues in process equipment
• Knowledge of degradation mechanisms in the oil/gas industry and demonstrated use of corrosion management (inspection and monitoring techniques) to solve issue
• Understanding and use of oil/gas IM industry codes
• Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze data and present recommendations to peers and management
• Ability to both initiate and progress multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Experience of managing third party contracting companies
• Experience of working with Operations teams
• Excellent IT skills (Excel and PowerPoint)
